Nurse Academies

SBHCS is proud to provide three nurse academies with programming specifically designed to provide education, orientation, and consultation to Nurse Managers, Nurse Leaders and Nurse Educators.

Nurse Manager

  • Pre-entry Level
    • Charge Nurse Workshop
      This one-day course is intended for anyone who assumes the role of charge nurse regardless of whether this role is permanent. Content includes delegation; how to assign correctly; chain of command; legal issues; priority setting and managing your shift. The program concludes with case studies that allow participants to apply concepts discussed throughout the day to practical, realistic situations.(Contact hours provided)

  • Entry Level
    • Orientation Program -a newly revised and comprehensive program designed to orient and mentor new nurse managers and supervisors.

    • Selected courses from the Nursing Leadership Academy (The Advisory Board Company, Washington, DC). The curriculum portfolio is designed to provide a comprehensive basis for the continuing development of the nursing department's leadership rank.

    • Succession management planning
