Monmouth Medical Center is one of New Jersey’s
largest community teaching hospitals, earning “accreditation
with commendation” from the Joint Commission on Accreditation
of Healthcare Organizations — the agency’s highest and
most prestigious rating.
A 527-bed acute care facility, Monmouth each
year provides care to nearly 20,000 hospitalized patients and performs
more than 12,000 surgeries. Its many outpatient departments and
ambulatory services handle some 450,000 annual patient visits, and
more than 43,000 patients receive acute care through the Emergency
Department. In addition, The Eisenberg Family Center at Monmouth
has nearly 3,400 births each year — the highest number of
deliveries of any hospital in Monmouth and Ocean counties and the
fourth highest in the state.
There are nearly 800 members on Monmouth’s
medical and dental staff, many of whom are trained in primary care
medicine, as well as in 60 recognized subspecialties. More than
100 resident physicians receive training in eight accredited residency
programs, and as a teaching affiliate of MCP Hahnemann University
School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Monmouth provides clinical training
to 300 medical students each year.
